Automobiles for Carrying Heavy Goods

Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) and Large Goods Vehicle (LGV) are different names of the same automobile. These are nothing but motor vehicles (like Lorries or Trucks) for carrying large quantities of goods. These vehicles should have a gross combination mass (GCM) of more than 3,500 kilograms (or 7,716 lb). HGVs can again be sub-categorised into two groups:
N2 - Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) up to a maximum allowed mass (MAM) of 12,000 kilograms (or 26,455 lb)
N3 – All Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) other than the ones coming under N2 category come under N3 category

A person having HGV license of this category can drive a heavy automobile having maximum authorised mass (MAM) of more than 3,500 kilograms (i.e. more than 7,716) along with a trailer having MAM of 750 kilograms (1,653 lb).
(iv)              Category C+E
License of this category enables HGV drivers to drive Class 1 trucks. You will be able to drive articulated trucks up to a maximum of 4,400 kilograms. The minimum age of the driver should be 21 and the earning can surpass £600 per week.
